Laser Cutting for Sheet Metal Fabrication in Melbourne

We cut sheet metal components for manufacturers, engineers and procurement teams, with each job reviewed against the drawing, material and production requirements.

Cnc Laser 1

We use our Amada ENSIS fibre laser to cut flat profiles, openings and component blanks in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper. Parts can then move through folding, welding, powder coating and assembly where required. Send us your drawing, material specification and quantity for a project quote.

Cnc Laser 2

Our laser cutting service is for metal sheet profiles and fabrication components, rather than decorative engraving or timber and acrylic cutting. We confirm the scope, production limits and any secondary operations from your drawing.

5 capabilities

The Amada ENSIS fibre laser cuts 2D profiles, openings and component blanks from metal sheet. Tell us whether you need a flat laser-cut blank or a finished fabricated component so the quote can include any required folding, joining, deburring, coating, inspection and packaging.

Equipment

Materials
Mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper

Parts that need formed geometry can proceed to CNC press brake folding after cutting. Multi-operation builds fall within Amapro’s metal fabrication service, and parts designed for sheet stock are covered under sheet metal fabrication. Confirm whether the quote includes each required operation and any surface finishing.

Turret punching applies tooling to repeated holes and formed details such as louvres, dimples and countersinks. Choose the process using profile complexity, feature type, material thickness, batch quantity and secondary forming needs. Where repeat hole patterns or formed features dominate, compare the CNC turret punching route during drawing review.

A prototype can verify dimensions, fit, handling and assembly before the drawing revision is released for repeat production. For repeat orders, keeping the approved revision, material specification and inspection criteria consistent limits unintended variation between batches. Quantities and scheduling are confirmed at quotation.

Runs
Prototype to small and medium batches

Parts are checked against the agreed specification before dispatch. We can confirm which dimensions require inspection, whether a report is needed and whether acceptance applies to the flat blank or the finished assembly.

Materials

Metals and Sheet Specifications

Amapro laser cuts mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper. Each job is reviewed against the specified grade or alloy, sheet thickness and part geometry. Maximum sheet size, minimum feature size and achievable tolerances vary by material and component, so mark critical dimensions, hole diameters, edge finish and datum references on the drawing.

Stainless steel Grade, thickness and finish requirements
Aluminium Alloy, temper and thickness

Applications

Laser-Cut Parts and Applications

Laser cutting can produce brackets, equipment panels, covers and enclosure blanks from flat sheet. If a part also requires folding, welding or finishing, include those requirements in your enquiry so the complete fabrication process can be quoted.
For broader fabricated assemblies and multi-process work, see metal fabrication.

Brackets

Mounting brackets and hardware cut from flat sheet.

Equipment panels

Front, rear and access panels with cut-outs and openings.

Covers

Protective and service covers for equipment.

Enclosure blanks

Flat blanks ready for folding into enclosures.

From CAD drawing to finished parts

A controlled drawing in, a checked component out.

01

Review

Review the current drawing revision, material and end-use requirements.

02

Program

Confirm manufacturability and prepare cutting and nesting instructions.

03

Cut and check

Cut components and inspect critical dimensions against the approved drawing.

04

Secondary operations

Complete any specified folding, welding, surface treatment or assembly.

05

Dispatch

Package and arrange dispatch in line with the quotation.

“Our customers don’t just come to us to make something. They come to us to solve a problem. That’s the conversation we want to have from day one.”

Quoting

Drawing Formats and Quote Requirements

For an accurate quote, send the latest drawing or flat pattern, material specification, quantity and any critical tolerances or secondary operations. Include a dimensioned PDF alongside editable CAD geometry where available so dimensions, notes and revisions are clear. For design-for-manufacture support, see design and engineering.

Drawing

Drawing or flat pattern with revision number and units.

Material

Material grade or alloy and nominal thickness.

Quantity

Number of parts, including any prototype quantity.

Critical features

Critical dimensions, hole details and tolerances.

Further operations

Required finish, folding, welding or assembly steps.

Delivery

Delivery destination and required completion date.

Pricing

What Affects Laser Cutting Prices?

Laser cutting prices are job-specific. The main cost drivers are material grade and thickness, cut length, piercing count, nesting yield, quantity and additional manufacturing steps.

Material
Alloy, grade, thickness and sheet utilisation.
Geometry
Total cut length, piercing points, narrow features and part nesting.
Quantity
Programming and set-up spread across the batch.
Additional operations
Folding, welding, deburring and coating.
Commercial requirements
Inspection, packaging, transport and deadlines.

Compare quotations against the same revision, grade, quantity and scope. A low cutting-only price is not equivalent to a quote that includes folding, finishing, inspection, packaging and freight.

Before cutting

Drawing Review Before Cutting

Before a cutting program is released, Amapro’s engineers check the drawing for manufacturability. Covering these points in the enquiry speeds that review.

Cut-outs and holes

Confirm cut-out and hole geometry against material thickness and process limits.

Mating parts

Check that mating part dimensions and datum references agree across drawings.

Features near bends

Flag features close to bends for folding review and bend allowance assessment.

Revision and finish

Confirm the current revision, material designation and surface-finish instructions.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common procurement questions. Specific grades, dimensional limits and delivery commitments are confirmed against the actual job.

Can Amapro laser cut stainless steel?

Yes. Stainless steel is one of the four materials Amapro laser cuts, alongside mild steel, aluminium and copper. Identify the grade, thickness, edge requirements and any later finishing in the enquiry, and confirm the cutting envelope and acceptance tolerances against the drawing.

Can I supply my own DXF or CAD file?

Yes. Amapro accepts STEP, STP, DXF, DWG, IGES and PDF files, and provides CAD/CAM development and file conversion. Include a dimensioned PDF drawing showing tolerances and the revision alongside any DXF or STEP geometry.

Can laser-cut parts be folded or welded?

Yes. Amapro provides CNC press brake folding and welding alongside laser cutting. Specify bend locations, material grade, joints and the final assembly requirements so the production route can be quoted as a whole.

Does Amapro handle prototype quantities?

Yes. Amapro offers rapid prototyping as well as small to medium production runs. Quantity and scheduling are confirmed for each project at quotation.
